SPC Flooring Installation Step-by-Step Guide

🔧 Do:
Inspect the subfloor carefully. While Baier’s SPC flooring tolerates minor unevenness, the surface must be level, stable, and clean.
For tile floors, fill grout joints wider than 3mm and level any dips or bumps with a leveling compound. If underfloor heating is present, ensure it’s compatible and working properly.

⚠️ Important Notes:
Uneven or unstable subfloors can cause plank movement and damage.
Large grout gaps or bumps will show through the SPC if not fixed.
Clean thoroughly to ensure a smooth, secure install.

🔧 Do:
Choose an underlay compatible with SPC flooring and your subfloor conditions. Many SPC floors come with attached underlay, but if not, select a moisture-resistant and sound-absorbing underlay suitable for your project.
Roll out the underlay evenly over the subfloor, ensuring seams are tightly butted without overlap. Tape seams if necessary to prevent movement. Trim excess underlay along walls with a utility knife.

⚠️ Important Notes:

Lay one row at a time and make sure you go in the same direction as you plan to lay your floor. Use adhesive tape to attach the rows together and prevent damage.
Underlay improves comfort, reduces noise, and protects against moisture.
Avoid overlapping underlay seams, which can cause uneven flooring.
Use a vapor barrier underlay on concrete subfloors or areas prone to moisture.

1. Calculate how many full rows you’ll need by dividing the room width by the plank width.
2. Mark the wall where the last full plank will be placed—ensure the final plank is at least 5 cm wide for easy fitting.
3. Unpack planks from multiple boxes and mix them to prevent repetitive patterns or color clustering.
4. Start the first row aligned with the longest wall, but leave a gap—walls are rarely perfectly straight.
5. Stagger the end joints in successive rows by at least 30 cm for optimal stability and aesthetics.
6. Click the first plank of the second row into the first plank of the first row, then continue row by row.
7. Remember, Baier’s Alpha Vinyl SPC is designed for floating installation only—not glue-down.

Avoid placing identical patterns or colors next to each other to maintain a natural look.
Proper staggering strengthens the floor and prevents weak spots.
Do not glue the planks; the click-lock system ensures a secure, flexible fit.

🔧 Do:
Once your Baier Vinyl floor is fully installed, complete the look with matching skirting boards and finishing profiles. Use skirting boards to cover expansion gaps along walls and around fixed objects. Install finishing profiles at transitions between different flooring types or doorways to achieve a seamless appearance. Always fix skirting and profiles to the wall—not the floor—to allow the floor to expand and contract naturally.

⚠️ Important Notes:
Skipping these finishing touches can leave visible gaps and compromise floor stability. Avoid nailing or gluing moldings directly onto the vinyl floor. Choose profiles and skirting that complement your floor’s color and style for a polished, professional finish.
